Introduced at the 78th Geneva Motor show and due to be marketed from July 19 in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, France and the Netherlands, the new 500 Abarth was developed by the Abarth engineers in the spirit of the legendary 500 Abarth cars of the 1960s.

The significant event of 1969 was the launch of a new Pontiac GTO model called 'The Judge'. The Judge name came from a comedy routine, "Here Comes the Judge", used repeatedly by Sammy Davis Jr. on the enormously popular "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In TV" show.

When FIA reduced the capacity limits to 3 litres for prototypes in the World Constructors' Championships at the end of 1967 (but homologated sports cars built in quantities of at least 25 examples were allowed to have 5 litres), a prototype emerged in the form of the 908, which put Porsche on an even footing with its rivals in the competition for the title.

Volvo Car Corporation proudly presented the Volvo S80L at the 6th Guangzhou Motor Show in south China. The S80L, a long wheelbase version of the popular S80 sedan, has been locally tailored and specifically designed for the market in China. Furthermore, the Volvo S80L will be locally produced in China. The new design was unveiled by Dr. Alexander Klose, CEO of Volvo Car China, and marks the acceleration of its localization plan.

It’s raw power is supplied from a 7 litre V8 engine with both a supercharger and a turbo. The Zenvo ST1 develops 1104 BHP of power which is controlled at the flick of a switch. Producing a massive 1.430 NM of torque which is put to ground via a 6 speed gearbox, variable suspension and custom wheels. Zenvo goes 0 to 100 in an impressive 3 seconds.

Karmann Ghia's great looks made for a fairly good selling car, totalling over 10,000 the first year. The Karmann Ghia was last produced in 1974 to make way for the new Volkswagen Scirocco. Only 365,912 coupes and 79,325 convertibles were produced which make the Karmann Ghia a fairly rare car considering it was produced for nearly 20 years.

The Roadster version of the Murciélago will offer an uprated 6.5 litre V12 engine that produces 650 hp (478 kW) along with permanent four-wheel drive: hence the model’s LP 650-4 moniker. With 660 Nm of torque, top performance is at 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.4 seconds. The top speed is around 330 Km/h (205mph).

The "RK Coupe" is based on the current Cayman S chassis from Porsche, and like the RK Spyder is built by the Italian Coach Builder "Studiotorino" owned by Alfredo & Maria Paola Stola. The "RK Coupe" will be limited to 49 vehicles and will also be available to the US market.

The SSC engineering team equipped the 2009 Ultimate Aero with a 15% increase in horsepower, a revamped front fascia design, and an array of important interior upgrades. Chevrolet officially announced the 2009 Corvette ZR1 - an American supercar that brings the technology and engineering refinement of carbon-fiber, ceramics and electronics together in a distinctive design. Roll-Royce has just released these photos of it’s new “entry-level” vehicle. Code-named the EX200, the concept vehicle will be on display at the Geneva Auto Show in March ahead of its Spring 2010 on-sale date. This yet-unnamed Rolls-Royce sits on an entirely new chassis that is larger than an extended-wheelbase 7 Series and yet smaller than a Phantom.

Protoscar Lampo is yet another interesting concept, lined up for a debut at Geneva. The sports car like concept features an all-electric powertrain with two front and rear electric motors for better acceleration and regenerative braking. The motors will supply power of 268hp with max torque at 440Nm.

Basically, ignore the more affordable stuff at the top of the list, scroll down straight to the biggest engine and most eye-bulging price-tag and you’re set.

I’m not sure Jeremy would agree with Honda’s strategy after he was none too positive about the Civic Type R, but it’s just been made even more focussed. Honda has added a Championship White edition to coincide with the face-lift the rangeis getting, and the key thing is that it gets a limited-slip differential.

Fact: Lotus does not make a crap car. Have a squint over its model range, and you’ll notice lots of good stuff. No lemons to keep the coffers brimmed, no deceptive marketing fluff. Well, almost. Take the Europa. It’s branded a ‘sports grand tourer’. It’s not.

There’s one big problem with the new Boxster, but it’s not the car’s fault. The ’09 Boxster is in every way better than the ’08 car – it looks, handles, stops and goes better than ever before. But that’s still not enough to get over the issue. And, truth be told, it never will be, because the problem is not the Boxster – it’s the new Cayman that’s just been launched alongside it.

The Camaro received new sheet metal in 1969. The look was more angular than the two previous Camaros. Wheel wells were squared off, new front and rear ends were added and it all contributed to longer and lower look. The interior was updated with new square gauges and an optional tachometer. Chevy offered buyers a plethora of engine choices, everything from a low budget six cylinder engine to an incredible 427 ci monster that was part of the special order ZL-1. Most buyers picked the “more reasonable” small block V-8s.
